Doug Freeman has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of MedBen since 1987. Under Doug’s leadership, MedBen has made the transition from a traditional indemnity health insurer to a full-fledged “benefits specialist” company offering TPA services, managed care plans, vision, dental and consumer-driven products. Doug is actively involved in state and national insurance matters. He currently serves on the Executive Committee of The Association of Ohio Life Insurance Companies, and has had a prominent voice in insurance task forces throughout the past decade. In 1990, Freeman was elected to the Board of Directors of the Health Insurance Association of America (HIAA), and served on the Board until 1999. On the local level, Doug is a founder and serves as Vice Chairman of the Community Health Clinic of Newark and Licking County. Formed in 1992, the clinic provides free medical and dental care services to the uninsured in the Newark, Ohio area. Doug has also served as President of the Board of Directors for the Midland Theatre Association and has sat on numerous other Boards, including The United Way, YMCA and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Doug is a graduate of the College of Wooster, a Fellow of The Life Management Institute (FLMI), a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), and a Health Insurance Associate (HIA).
